Fundraising Volunteer

Job Role:

Atma requires a Fundraising Volunteer to provide support to the Fund Raising Officer and Director by creating actionable steps for implementation of fund raising, develop required materials/tools for implementation and design feedback mechanisms to track progress and reception of mode while also using relevant case studies. The role focuses on conducting the day-to-day operational management and implementation of all activities pertaining to fund development and fundraising


Responsibilities:

Implementation
• Research and contact potential donors
• Process incoming and prepare outgoing mail.
• Drafting, editing, and preparing grants for submission. This also includes compiling program related reports and submitting them in a timely manner.
• Take initiative to build relationships with potential donors including individual community donors.
• Generate new ideas and business opportunities to increase fundraising and fund development to meet and exceed goals.
• Establish an ongoing fundraising program to support the work
• Research potential donors and foundations to identify and evaluate potential funding sources.
• Make initial contacts, and follow-through of securing available funding along with the coordination of all optional funding opportunities.
Design feedback tools to track progress
• Monitor program, track and document all necessary activities
• Completes all reporting requirements according to the slates deadlines.
• Prepare grants/ project proposals and progress reports as required by program contract and agreements.

Specific Skills and Experience required:

• Experience in fundraising
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
• Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office is very helpful.

FRIEDENSDORF INTERNATIONAL (Peace Village International)

Description

Since 1967 Friedensdorf International has worked with wounded children from war-torn and crisis areas including Afghanistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Angola, Armenia, Georgia and Tadzhikistan who need medical treatment in European hospitals. After appropriate treatment the children stay in the Peace Village care station in Oberhausen for rehabilitation until they return to their native countries and to their families. The children range from two years up to 11 years of age. About 15 volunteers/interns work in the Village every year. In PEACE VILLAGE there is a possibility to do a training which is for interested candidates who would like to gather some practical knowledge or want to try out their capabilities. Applications in the following departments is possible: ·Children's home ·Rehabilitation center ·Kitchen/ house keeping services ·Children's schoolhouse included wood- metal, garden and kitchen training units ·Sorting second hand clothes, things in second- hand shops ·Public Relation ·Educational establishment. (We would like volunteers/interns in the department of Children’s home or Reha-Center to stay more than 6 month long, because it is very difficult for our children to adapt to many different persons. A high fluctuation means that they always have to say good bye to someone whom they just started to love, and they desperately need some stability. In other departments like Kitchen/ housekeeping services or technical departments, the duration could be more than 3 month-long.) The applicants are supposed to mention their desired work area in PEACE VILLAGE. Since we have only limited positions to offer in the different departments, we cannot guarantee that the applicant's desire can be definitely fulfilled. But we would try our best to meet the requirements. Unfortunately, it is not possible to get paid training, however, we offer free lodging and food to the volunteers/interns in PEACE VILLAGE. It's also a great chance to work along with a committed team having an international atmosphere and be engaged in a variety of tasks where high amount of responsibility is expected. Volunteers/interns also receive a certificate and of course last but not the least, a sense of personal achievement. Development Initiative Network (DIN Malawi)

Description

Development Initiative Network (DIN) is a local non-profit organization currently working in the Lower Shire southern region of Malawi. DIN was established in February 2012 to respond to the needs and challenges affecting vulnerable communities in Chikwawa and Nsanje. We believe for change to be effective and sustainable development to materialize, communities need to be the drivers of the process. Our aim is to empower a network of community groups and organizations and ensure they have access to adequate resources and training in order to tackle poverty. Partnering with local, international and government organizations, our programs focus on improving water, sanitation and healthcare, providing access to good quality education and community awareness and addressing food insecurities through rural agricultural development, while tackling climate change.

Our mission is to alleviate poverty and create lasting change in vulnerable communities.

The objectives of the organization are:
1. To promote community education through training and awareness programs on the following issues: gender equality, child marriage prevention, youth development, governance and democracy.

2. To partner with local, international and governmental organizations and link communities with the expertise and resources required to tackle poverty.

3. To improve food security among vulnerable communities through viable agricultural practices, improved storage and management techniques and increase income levels of marginalized groups by establishing agri-business schemes.

4. To empower communities in climate change adaptation strategies with special emphasis on community forestation and risk disaster preparedness.

5. To improve health and WASH standards through the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene resources, establishment of home based care committees and training of community health workers in HIV/AIDS and safe mother programs.

6. To promote access to early childhood, primary, secondary and adult education, improve quality and ensure adequate resources.

Volunteering

We are a charitable organisation based in the UK and recruit dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers matching them to full-time, long-term placements. We aim to enable people to grow professionally, personally and spiritually through full-time voluntary service.

TFG currently hosts around 100 volunteers per annum within its core young adult volunteer programme, most serving in the UK.

Volunteers come to us from many different countries …

UK, South Korea, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Brazil, Mexico, Kenya, USA, Spain, Egypt, Slovakia, Poland, Uganda, Netherlands, Finland, Russia, Norway, Italy, Estonia, Israel, France, Mexico, Belgium, Germany & New Zealand.

Training and support is central to TFG’s philosophy, so each volunteer attends 2 residential conferences to meet other young adults and to hear about a range of issues relevant to their situation. The staff team keep in touch with volunteers in their placements by phone and email, and the Field Officers visit them through the year to check all is going well.

Volunteer placements include churches of most “flavours”; youth work; residential care of elderly, adults with learning difficulties and/or other special needs; activity centres and projects; debt counselling work; YMCAs; rehabilitative projects for a range of substance abuses; and so on.

We see it as our role to help each volunteer explore their faith journey, starting from where they themselves are, rather than where we would like them to be. Thus we welcome young people from all the mainstream Christian traditions, and both those with a passionate/personal faith and those with a more casual/nominal approach or no faith at all – and all points in between – with the understanding that we are all committed to exploring or journeying together.

We are therefore balancing our personal faith positions with the need to enable our volunteers to find their own paths – of which we are a part.

CAMPHILL VILLAGE KIMBERTON HILLS, INC

Description

Camphill Village Kimberton Hills is a vibrant farming and handcrafting community that includes adults with developmental disabilities. Kimberton Hills residents, living and working side by side, create a dynamic and caring community for people of all ages and varied abilities. Located on 432 acres of farm, gardens and woodlands in Chester County, Pennsylvania, Kimberton Hills is also a local center for culture and a model for sound ecological living.

Coworkers are invited to live and work in our community, while receiving room, board, and may include a monthly stipend. Workshops include maintaining family households, participating in one of our crafts (weavery, pottery, mosaic workshop, and fiber arts), helping in our organic bakery or cafe, or tending our bio-dynamic gardens, orchard and dairy farm. We work in Ghana to provide impoverished, orphaned and street children with Health Care and Education.

ASTHMA AND ALLERGY FOUNDATION

Description

Asthma and Allergy Foundation is an Aberdeen based charity providing evidence-based health information, confidential advice and support to people with asthma, their families, carers, friends and other members of the community.

We offer free advice to all. Our aim is to ensure that all those who turn to us for support get the help they need so they or their loved ones can live healthier and active lives.

The organisation also provide volunteering opportunity for young people to gain vital experience and skills that will help them move into paid employment.

OUTSET YOUTH ACTION

Description

Outset Youth Action (Outset) is an independent county wide youth organisation and registered Charity which operates over the whole county of West Sussex.

Outset acts as a volunteering agency for young people aged 13 – 25, encouraging and supporting young people to take on a wide range of volunteering opportunities within their community. The nature of these opportunities is to provide support and benefit to West Sussex communities and contribute to each young person’s own personal development.

Volunteers choose the type of activity they wish to be involved in. Their skills and interests are carefully matched to a wide range of projects in their community.

Outset Youth Action believes that every young person should be recognised for their contribution, no matter how big or small. We think it’s important to give young people the opportunity to reflect on their learning and to identify the skills they have gained through their volunteering experiences.

All Outset volunteers receive a signed certificate giving details of their personal involvement and commitment. Young People aged between 16 - 25 can work towards and receive a nationally recognised award and also complete an ASDAN short course qualification in volunteering.

Outset Youth Action encourages and supports a wide range of young people to volunteer for the benefit of their local community, irrespective of their personal situation. They do not need any qualifications and it will not cost them any money.

Central to Outset’s work is the continuous support given to the volunteers by Outset’s team of Youth Volunteer Advisers. Each district of West Sussex is represented by a Youth Volunteer Advisor who is responsible for the supervision of the volunteering activities of young people drawn from the district.

They are responsible for organising placements and for overseeing matters relating to health and safety. All placements are carefully monitored and risk assessed by Outset to ensure that they are both appropriate and safe for volunteers.

Outset Volunteers don’t need to have had previous volunteering experience – just a commitment to helping others and making a difference in their community.

CAMEROONIAN ACTION FOR AIDS, WELFARE & RETURN HOME (CAAWRHO)

Cameroonian Action for Aids Welfare and Return Home (CAAWRHO) is a registered charity in UK under the Registration No: 1115448 which aims to alleviate asylum seekers and refugees from Africa and Cameroon in particular living in the UK. Our team of expects provide advice, support and information on education and training, employment, sponsorship, integration with Communities, health and nutrition and income generation etc. CAAWRHO was founded in 2006 by a group of Cameroonians living in the UK. CAAWRHO Trust was established in 2006 for public benefit in United Kingdom. We work with local authorities in UK and abroad to identify orphan children up to the age of 12 in Cameroon who have no visible means of support. Many of these children are victims of the scourge HIV/ AIDS that is taking a terrible toll throughout Cameroon, asylum seekers and refugees from Africa living in UK particularly those from French speaking African Countries. By relieving such persons who are in need of education and training, employment, income generation, poverty and sickness. We provide advice, support and information. We also respond to disasters and emergencies, CAAWRHO promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities.

Youth Partnership for Peace and Development

With Active programs in Sierra Leone and Liberia, the Youth Partnership for Peace and Development (YPPD) is a voluntary and non-profit youth-led development organization working directly with development partners across the world. Established as a post-conflict initiative, the organization is staffed by a group of young proactive youths who are convinced that development does not lie in the hands of the elderly alone, about also in those of young people.

It maintains the view that young people can be agents of positive change, and works for ways of enabling youth to step forward for social transformation in various communities and the world at large.
The overarching goal of YPPD is to contribute to the endeavors of supporting youth development, peaceful conflict resolution, stability, sustainable development, peace and democracy in Sierra Leone. It works to increase the capacity of vulnerable groups through training, partnership, advocacy, enhancing the youth knowledge base and equipping them with livelihood skills. It is a platform for diverse kinds of actions committed to engaging key stakeholders at different levels of development across the country.

Ninth Wave Global

Description

Ninth Wave Global is an independent, international organisation and think tank which works in unknown or forgotten territories over the horizon, generating space for investigation and positive change in environmental, community and social settings. We currently work in Europe, the Americas and Australasia, encouraging quiet, humble and slow exploration of places and people, opening up space for people to recognise shared humanity, needs and aspirations, culminating in concrete programs of local-led, grass-roots developmental projects fundamentally based on local horizons, not imported value systems or solutions.

Having worked in territories over the horizon with remote communities for many years, we fundamentally believe that all meaningful change is necessarily slow, locally-led, attitude-and-aspiration-based. Communities with appropriate resources and assistance are capable of generating the autonomous power to develop systems for themselves. As such, working with communities primarily in the Americas, Ninth Wave is intent not on generating change per se, but on identifying and empowering people who are capable of generating change for themselves and their communities.

African Youth Alliance Common Initiative Group

Description

The African Youth Alliance Group’s mission is to improve the education and living conditions of women and young girls of rural areas of Cameroon through the creation of clubs in villages where young girls and women can meet in safe discussion spaces, benefit from peer mentoring, learn new skills and bridge the inter-generational gap. We aim to empower women and young girls to challenge unjust policies affecting their lives and improve their skills through trainings on women’s rights, gender based violence, and livelihood support for income generation.
We encourage women and young girls to come together into clubs called MAD (Making A Difference) Sisters Clubs. The women and girls meet twice a month in their clubs, which are safe discussion spaces where they can freely talk about the issues affecting them in their communities, support each other and find solutions. In the clubs, we empower them on women’s rights, leadership skills and train them on income generating activities (powder soap/arts and crafts production). Most women/girls in rural communities practice farming activities for subsistence. We therefore also implement organic agricultural projects to improve on their access for food security and for climate change control.
We finally support women/young girls in organizing community events where they can pass messages on gender equality and access to socioeconomic rights.
We have so far created a network of 06 clubs in 06 communities of North West mote communities of North West Cameroon. Cameroon; we regularly work with (a total membership of about 350 women and girls) and have successfully reached out to over 1’650 women and young girls, 90 % of them in rural areas.
The African Youth Alliance Group was founded by 4 women from rural communities of North West Cameroon. Angry with the discrimination women face in their villages to have access to education and economic opportunities and frustrated by the scarcity of structures addressing the issues related to women, especially those in rural remote communities, they decided to found a community-based organization that would empower them directly. We believe that:
• Women and young girls from rural communities should not face abuse and discrimination in villages because they are not aware of their rights.
• Women and young girls from rural communities should be empowered and come together to have a bigger voice and fight for their rights in rural communities.
• Women and young girls should no longer face challenges and male domination due to a major lack of economic empowerment.

AGE UK HARROW

Age UK Harrow (formerly known as Age Concern Harrow) is an independent charity which exists to serve the interests of all older citizens in and around the borough of Harrow, from all walks of life and ethnic communities. We provide a wide range of services for older people, from information and advice to volunteering opportunities and support for those who are housebound and isolated.

Our mission is to promote the well-being of older residents of Harrow and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience with the help of wonderful volunteers, such as yourself!
