PROFILE
IcFEM is an indigenous organisation which aims to help people in rural areas, especially in self-help, sustainable welfare, development projects, to run a mercy ministry for the needy and to involve various community development programmes while conserving the environment. We are looking for flexible, hard working and adaptable volunteers. Spend between two weeks and six months with IcFEM and experience one of the world's poorest, liveliest and friendliest countries. Develop your self-confidence, become more independent and improve your cultural awareness whilst learning new skills. It’s a once in a lifetime experience that you’ll never forget! For more information pick up one of our leaflets or contact us via the website at www.gap-volunteers.icfem-mission.org We may be able to place a volunteer with an offending background depending on the nature of the offence.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
None needed. All we ask is that our volunteers is that they have a heart to help the needy.
Health Requirements
All volunteers need to fill in a medical form before arrival so we know of any medical disabilities they may have. If they are serious, we can see how we may be able to work around them.
Cost to Volunteer
Flights, visa, vaccinations, accommodation, transfers, orientation fee and insurance costs are all a volunteers responsibility.
Equipment/Clothing
Almost all equipment can be bought here if a volunteer finds they need it and wants to purchase it. It does depend on the type of work going to be done but if a volunteer wants to bring equipment (sports etc) then please do.
Insurance
Volunteers are responsible for providing all their insurance cover. We do give advice on companies that meet our standards as the policy has to cover certain areas.

Interview
We do interview all volunteer whether it be face to face or by telephone. Volunteers need to fill in a ashort application form and we need two references.
Training
Volunteers receive a comprehensive welcome booklet which gives advice on flights, visas and insurance. We try to visit our volunteers but if this isn't possible because of the distance then we phone and discuss the work and what life will be like here.
Supervision
There will always be a member of staff for safety reasons especially when working in the community. We also have a mentor in our headquarters for volunteers to contact if they need to.
Accommodation
We have a very nice guest house for volunteers which has electricity, hot showers, a living room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served to our guests. If volunteers are going to be working in the community, they will be given a packed lunch.
Debriefing and Certificates
The administrator will have a chat with a volunteer just before they leave to debrief. All volunteers receive a certificate of appreciation and one volunteer a year receives a volunteer of the year certificate which is given to the best volunteer of year
Disabled Policy
It depends on the disability. We don't discriminate against anyone and we try our best to find everyone a placement who wishes to help us. Please contact us to discuss further.
